988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline
We are here to listen to you! Call or text the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline to talk to one of our trained workers who provide a safe space to talk about all sorts of feelings and problems including, depression, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, loneliness, interpersonal problems and financial issues. All calls are free and confidential. We are here to listen and talk with you whenever you need help the most.
The Support Hotline is part of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline network at 988. This is a national lifeline, locally answered by Portage Path Behavioral Health for Summit and Lake counties.

Case Management (CPST)
We offer case management services, also called Community Psychiatric Supportive Treatment (CPST) to help clients manage multiple life and health issues so they can focus on their emotional issues during individual therapy. CPST helps support the client with agency and community resources along their journey in the recovery process.

Co-Occurring Treatment
Co-Occurring services at Portage Path Behavioral Health are designed to help those experiencing mental illness and substance use disorders to take control of their recovery and return more quickly to their best possible life, with few relapses. Portage Path Behavioral Health offers both individual and group therapy programs for our co-occurring clients.

Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU)
CSU is a voluntary sixteen bed unit which provides a structured, short-term residential environment where individuals can be monitored and receive psychiatric treatment. The goal of the CSU is to manage the crisis in the most effective manner. The individual is then referred to a less restrictive outpatient service where they can continue on their treatment path and reach their recovery goals.

Crossroads and Bridges Group Therapy
Crossroads is an Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program (IOP) for co-occurring clients that provides a safe, structured environment where clients can build essential life and problem-solving skills, and improve their treatment readiness. Upon completion of the program, clients are referred to aftercare programs customized to meet their recovery needs.
Bridges is a custom-designed program for co-occurring clients that helps clients make progress faster and avoid relapses. Clients learn positive coping skills that allow them to make lifestyle changes.

Emergency Evaluation, Treatment and Referral
Individuals arriving at Portage Path Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES) in a crisis are evaluated in the Emergency Evaluation (EE) unit by a registered nurse, an emergency clinician, and a psychiatrist. The team works together to gather collateral information, provide crisis intervention and use medications, if necessary. Individuals are then referred to outpatient services, a crisis stabilization unit, inpatient hospitals or specialized service providers. Individual Therapy
Our team of psychologists, counselors and social workers are here to guide you on your path to recovery and help you reach your goals. Therapy can be difficult to define because it means different things to each person. Your therapist will collaborate with you to identify goals and help you achieve them through a variety of evidence-based practices and strategies, guiding you to a better emotional place.

Maternal Opioid Mental Health Support (MOMS) Clinic
Portage Path Behavioral Health is excited to introduce our new Maternal Opioid Mental Health Support (MOMS) Clinic, a specialized program dedicated to supporting all mothers and all women of reproductive age who are facing the challenges of opioid use, mental health conditions or both. The MOMS clinic is specifically designed to provide comprehensive, compassionate care to women, to achieve stability through fast access to care, holistic support services, weekly psychiatric sessions and collaboration and coordination of care with referring providers. Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)
MAT for opioid addiction allows clients to regain a normal state of mind more quickly, avoiding withdrawal symptoms and starting down the path to recovery through education, counseling and other treatments focused on the behavioral aspects of addiction. Clients in this program are closely supervised by medical personnel, and ongoing medication needs are monitored and adjusted based on medical criteria and individual needs.

Medication Management
What separates Portage Path from other providers? We have the unique ability to coordinate client therapy and medication through Genoa Pharmacy, located inside our Akron clinic. We have a large team of psychiatrists and advanced practice nurse practitioners who work closely to make sure treatment is effective and affordable.

Mobile Therapy Center
The MTC is a first of its kind 35-ft RV outfitted with a private room for mental health screenings and other services. The mobile therapy center is free of charge to request for your event, neighborhood, business, or organization.

Pathways Group Therapy
Pathways is a day treatment program designed to help clients reduce symptoms, gain stability and build essential life and problem-solving skills. Participants make changes to positively impact their lives and regain a sense of hope for the future.

Peer Support
Our Certified Peer Recovery Supporters promote healthy lifestyle changes through lived experience of a mental health or substance use disorder. Ask your Peer Supporter about The Zen Den; a peer support wellness and resource space made possible by a generous donation!

Probate
The Portage Path crisis team works in collaboration with the Summit County Probate Court. Clinical staff from Portage Path complete probate investigations within the community. This process assists individuals in receiving treatment when the individual generally does not believe they are in need of behavioral health services but appear to others to be in a crisis. Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES) is a 24/7 crisis care center which uses the best practices in psychiatric care to help individuals manage psychiatric emergencies, stabilize crises and return safely to the community.

Psychiatry Services
Psychiatrists are physicians who specialize in the treatment of mental illness. Along with our team of advanced practice nurses, our psychiatrists offer comprehensive evaluations and management of medications as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team. Medications are not mandatory but are often helpful in dealing with symptoms of anxiety, depression, mood swings or psychosis. Our prescribers work with clients to develop a customized medication management strategy, which is regularly re-evaluated and adjusted as needed.

Summit County Outreach Team (SCOUT)
The SCOUT Program is a partnership with the City of Akron and the County of Summit ADM Board. The SCOUT team is a clinician from Portage Path Behavioral Health, an Akron City Fire/EMS, and an Akron City Police Officer who are dispatched by 911. They respond to calls in Akron where mental health is a concern, but the individual is not a danger to themself or others.This team is on-call Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
